The Role

We are looking for a highly-capable and ambitious person to lead our marketplace strategy service. We are looking for someone who knows Amazon inside-out. Someone that has a prolonged track record of growing brands on Amazon (and other marketplaces).

The Account Strategy team defines objectives, launches brands and products onto Amazon, coordinates with marketing and content teams and ultimately ensures that we are exceeding our client’s expectations.

As Head of Marketplace Strategy you will strengthen our existing processes and continuously strive to create a world-beating strategy function within the business.

We have recently secured VC funding to embark on a rapid acceleration of our client base and to expand our services. This role is central to our ability to capitalise on this funding and the excellent foundations that have been built since we launched in March 2019.

The role is suited to someone that loves responsibility, accountability and delivering results. You will be creative, entrepreneurial and always finding ways to drive growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop quarterly, tentpole event and product launch client strategies
  • Overall delivery of our client objectives
  • Leadership of our client services and the processes that support successful delivery for each client
  • Managing a team of Account Strategists and supporting them to achieve their account objectives
  • Establishing rigorous objective-setting, forecasting, budgeting and project management processes
  • Creating training schemes and playbooks to enhance the Account Strategy team’s knowledge and performance
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Content leads to plan resourcing, increase efficiency and maintain our high standards of delivery
  • Working with the senior team to optimise operational processes to improve the agency’s output
  • Retain and expand our relationships with existing clients
  • Contribute to client pitches and develop onboarding processes

Experience and Characteristics

  • Minimum of 5 years working in a client-facing or multiple stakeholder management (if you’re in-house) role
  • A track record of achieving profitable growth on Amazon in a wide range of consumer sectors.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with the Amazon marketplace. Ideally with experience of both Vendor and Seller Central platforms
  • Experience selling on Amazon across multiple markets especially the UK, US and Germany
  • Experience with non-Amazon marketplaces
  • Experience managing and training a team
  • You must be
    • able to build relationships with clients
    • a superb communicator who is able to educate and inspire both clients and the team
    • an analytical thinker
    • able to allocate resources and prioritise based on expected ROI

We are building a strong company culture. Everyone in the business must exhibit these qualities

  • Tenacity
  • Ambition
  • A love of learning
  • Not afraid to try things
  • Embrace challenges
  • Instinct to act

What Does the Agency Do?

We provide a full-service offering to fully manage the entire operation of selling on Amazon.

Our clients are product brands that are selling on Amazon. They are mostly consumer products though we do have B2B clients. Clients are based in the UK, mainland Europe and the United States.

Our clients are active in a wide range of sectors including skincare, office supplies, nutrition, alcohol, medical devices and toys.

Presently, we’re a small team but thanks to our successful funding we have big growth plans.

Working at FordeBaker

The role is open to anyone in any location. The only limitation is that you must be available to speak with clients in the US, UK and mainland Europe during their normal working hours.

There are no set hours and no control over where you work. Everyone works remotely and manages their own schedules.  This is an opportunity to do your best work and take control of your work-life balance.

We will communicate via Slack and Google Meet. UK based employees will be expected to travel to regular face-to-face meetings (when the pandemic is over). If you would like to learn more about me, the agency founder, please visit my Linkedin profile.

Benefits

The benefits come from getting in early, influencing the agency’s long-term growth and growing with the business. You will also have exposure to many other aspects of ecommerce and the opportunity to broaden your skillset. If you want certainty, a fancy office and lots of ancillary benefits then this isn’t the right role for you.

Salary is dependent on experience. There is also a bonus scheme linked to bringing in new business. You will be supplied with a laptop and 25 holidays (plus public holidays).

How To Apply

Please email me at tom@fordebaker.com with your CV and a cover letter explaining why you are interested in this role, especially why you’re interested in joining a young agency, and what makes you a good fit to take on that challenge.

We will not consider people that do not provide a tailored cover letter.
